Project 1:Recording Ambient Sounds and Dialogue

1:Recording Ambient Sounds

A: an Ambient sound recording is the Background noise from any locations E.G ambient sounds for a office would include people talking, phones ringing, maybe even the noise from printers, ambient sounds build up the atmosphere for any locations and that is what makes film locations seem more real

Reason that hard cuts are ill advised for ambient sound mixing is because the quality of the sound for two different clips may vary between the setups thought out the time period that the shooting was in because some small differences in the location may have an effect on the ambient sound

The advantages of shooting on location and not taking sound clips for a library is that while filming on a location you are more likely to get the sort of ambient sound you are looking for than from a sound library plus it maybe harder to find the sort of ambient sound you are looking for from a sound library than from a location recording

the sound engine that was used during the hunger games catching fire was Atmos

2:recording Dialog Dialogue

what is looping: Looping is when a recording of the actor when they are saying their lines in sync of the images which is played over and over again with a matching of length of the footage.

ambient noise is important during dialogue because the ambient sound helps provide the atmosphere for the story, it builds up the tention, the drama, it helps makes the story have an affect on the viewer, if there was just dialogue that impact wouldn't be the same and the viewers would be as interested in whats going on.

reason why dialogue is hard to record on location is because of the intrusion of unwanted noises during the filming, if they actors are speaking while recording and there is a noise that wasn't meant to be in the film it can ruin the whole clip and they have to speak again. this can be over come with the use od dubbing the clips, so get the actors to record in a studio, this helps get rid of this problem, but sometimes the dubbing can make the film look worse
